Deviled eggs
One of Adeline's favorite foods in the whole world lately is deviled eggs. They actually transport pretty well to school and are easy to make in the morning (or the night before) if you've already hard boiled the eggs.

Bento boxes for lunch
What's for lunch? Bento boxes? I am gonna give that a try tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't take 2 hours like the vegi sushi did.

a picky eater's lunch
My kids are picky picky. A favorite is cold pasta tossed with some grated parmesan. Yoghurt and a fruit on the side.

Vegi sushi
Eva and I made these vegi sushi inspired by a chef at Oakland's Eat Real festival. Collard greens as the wraps. Shredded beets, carrots and sprouts on the inside. Topped with bacon bits (I added that. How could you make vegi sushi without bacon?)
We made everything from scratch, blanched the greens, roasted the beets, shredded the carrots... It turned into a two-hour affair. We made dinner (vegi and with tuna) and lunch for the next day. I recommend it if you want to make a project out of lunch or everything is already prepped and ready to go.

Salad - couscous, oranges, honey
From Mark Bittman's 101 Simple Salads for the Season #95: Mix cooked couscous or quinoa with orange zest and juice, olive oil, maybe honey, sliced oranges, raisins or dried cranberries, chopped red onion and chopped almonds. Serve over greens, or not.
The idea behind the blog
I created this blog in an attempt to get some fresh ideas for lunches. I think Eva is getting tired of salami with slices of cheese and pieces of wheat bread. The lunches are coming back untouched some days, or just picked on. With all the fresh ingredients around us at farmer's markets and the near by Berkeley Bowl, I should be able to feed my child well. Right? I hope you would all contribute and share your ideas on packing a good lunch for our children. Simple, healthy, quick ways to put a lunch together that our kids will eat.
